Lip balm is one of the easier products you can make at home–it’s easy, fun, and cheap, and makes a great project if you want to dip your toe into the DIY waters. I made my first batch of lip balm last year and this time I wanted to make experiment with making a tinted lip balm.
For this recipe:
- 1 Part Coconut Oil
- 1 Part Beeswax
- Half a tube of old red lipstick
- Lemon essential oil

You’ll need some empty containers for your balm. These are old containers I collected to reuse.

…and a saucepan. Because of the beeswax in this recipe, I have a dedicated, separate saucepan for this. I cook most of my DIY stuff in this. I picked it up at Goodwill for $1.

Start by combining your coconut oil and beeswax over low heat.

Once they have melted, drop in a few drops of your favorite essential oil, and lipstick for color.

Swirl the pan until the lipstick blends with your other ingredients. Once blended, remove from heat.

Let cool for a minute, then pour into containers. Spills can be cleaned up fairly easily.

I’m guessing this batch cost me maybe $2 worth of materials to make? There are a lot of different recipes floating around the internet. Have fun!
Until Next Week!
